Summer has arrived in the Gold Coast!  Christmas holidays are approaching, flowers have blossomed and delicious food is on everyone’s mind.  We’ve teamed up with three exclusive wineries to chat about some delicious wine and food pairings, with some expert assistance from world-class chefs and sommeliers, so you can learn exactly which wines go perfectly with your meal! It doesn’t matter if you are new to the world of wines, or are a connoisseur looking for new ideas – we have some great options for you!

The Gold Coast food and wine scene is a veritable heaven for foodies and wine lovers alike. The beachside suburbs are bursting with new flavour experiences, and the hinterland has long been a draw card for those seeking boutique gourmet venues where they can taste-test a range of delicious hand-made goods from cheeses, fudges, chocolate and of course – wine!

Cedar Creek Estate & Vineyard

Situated on a beautiful 22 acres of lush green hinterland, Cedar Creek has a distinctly European feel – you’ll soon be imagining you are relaxing in the vineyards of France as you enjoy your surrounds and sip on your favourite tippe.

Whether you are looking for a tasty cheese plate or a three-course lunch, the restaurant offers plenty of delicious options, and you can choose to sit and enjoy the scenery in the garden or relax in the beautiful indoor dining room.

We think you will love the Robert Channon – Pinot Gris, a deliciously fresh and crispy wine with a delightful amount of character. Pinot Gris is hotly tipped to be the next big thing in wine – it’s easy to drink and goes perfectly with a seafood meal – why not try some of South East Queensland’s own Moreton Bay Bugs?

For those who love red – you’ll want to sample the Golden Grove – Joven Tempranillo – with layers of cherry and spice, it works deliciously with Spanish food – the perfect drop for tapas or perhaps a flavourful bowl of paella.

Witches Falls Winery

This delightful estate focuses on grapes sourced from the cool climate of the Granite Belt region of Queensland.  All the wines are made on site at the vineyard, this family-owned business has set themselves grueling standards of passion, honesty and meticulous attention to detail – which all leads to the creation of world-class wines.

Featuring in the world-renowned James Halliday Companion, this vineyard offers some delightful varieties in both red and white.

For lovers of a full-bodied read – try the Syrah, derived from the same grape as a Shiraz but with a refined taste. Pair with your favorite steak dish or a rich beef casserole for a flavour adventure.

Heritage Estate Wines

Established in 1992, Heritage Estate take the prestigious title of being one of only a handful of wineries to recieve a 5-star rating from James Halliday. This little-known vineyard is a dark horse and will delight you with their range of Granite Belt grown wines.

The Rabbit Fence Red is a great pick, with it’s name derived from Australia’s famous Rabbit Proof Fence – which backs on to the winery! Enjoy on a summer afternoon with a platter of your favourite cheese and good friends. Whether you fancy a strong cheddar or a robust blue – this drop can handle it – so sit back and enjoy!

If you have not yet planned your activities for your summer vacation –  let’s get going! Give Pineapple Tours a call and we will put together the wine adventure of a lifetime.
