Ways to Spend a Saturday on the Gold Coast

Warm summer Saturdays on the Gold Coast are often spent enjoying one of the many beautiful beaches the area has to offer. In fact, with so many miles of golden coastline, you may be thinking that there are no better ways to spend a perfect Saturday whether you live in the city, or are just visiting.

In fact, the beaches and oceans aren’t the only beauty spots in the area which are worth a visit no matter the weather. Of course, attractions on the coast range from natural, to man-made, paid attractions and free.

One of the greatest ways to spend your day is to enjoy a combination of all the above, mix up your itinerary and take in a good variety of everything the coast has to offer.

Pacific Fair

If you don’t want to head too far from the tourist areas, a good place to start is Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, where you will enjoy a unique indoor and outdoor experience – comprising high end and high street stores, trendy restaurants and bars, as well as great areas to chill out, take in a movie, or enjoy some family activities. Getting to the centre is easy – the G Link tram Broadbeach stop is a short walk from the entrance, and services the beachside suburbs from Southport and in-land suburbs to Helensvale. If you’re travelling from Brisbane, the main heavy rail service allows you to interchange at Helensvale station where you can jump on the tram and enjoy the journey to Broadbeach.

Palm Beach

Further to the South, you can have a wonderful day exploring the trendy restuarants and stores of Palm Beach – where you can enjoy flavours from all around the world, including Mexican, Korean, Japanese, German and many wonderful modern Australian venues. If you love to be on the water, a trip to Tallebudgera Creek is well worth your time – you can enjoy a swim in the calm turquoise waters, or hire a paddleboard and try your skill at standing up and enjoying the wide waterways and sandy banks.

Tamborine Mountain

Another beauty spot that is worth a day trip is the hinterland of Tamborine Mountain. If you’re a visitor to the area, you might not realize that the hinterland is one of the most highly recommended areas that locals suggest to see during your time on the coast. Offering a combination of lush green rainforests and picturesque outlooks, it’s easy to spend a day enjoying the many boutique producers of wine, cheese, arts and crafts as you meander through all the great spots on your day up the mountain. If you’re the adventurous type, you could try the high ropes course or go searching for thunder eggs as Thunderbird park. The hinterland really has something to offer for everyone, so make sure to add it to your itinerary.

Now next time you have a spare Saturday, why not try some of the suggestions above – but most of all, enjoy your day!

With a varied menu of food, this is a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy a few drinks whatever the occasion.
